About the Role
Meta is seeking a Product Communications Manager to create awareness and excitement for WhatsApp. This role involves shaping how WhatsApp's product innovations are communicated to media, policymakers, and the public, supporting go-to-market efforts and telling the story of how we connect people and businesses everywhere. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and business, creative, and an excellent writer with experience in planning announcements, working with earned media, advising on social media campaigns, and collaborating cross-functionally.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute external communications strategies that advance WhatsApp's reputation across consumer, business, and policy audiences.
- Build and maintain relationships with technology, business media, and creators.
- Craft compelling narratives around WhatsApp product launches, platform milestones, and business messaging growth.
- Prepare spokespeople for media interviews, press events, and public appearances by developing briefing materials, talking points, and Q&A documents.
- Lead proactive and reactive media relations efforts, including drafting press releases, pitches, statements, and op-eds.
- Think through integrated communications across all channels, including owned, earned and social.
- Help shape the tone for WhatsApp to create messaging and tactics that will resonate with target audiences.
- Work directly with Product and Marketing to shape how they can help advance our campaign or narratives.
- Create content such as key messaging, blogs, pitches, and other creative materials that evangelize various announcements and milestones.
- Lead press events, prepare spokespeople, and create briefing materials.
- Collaborate across multiple functions including engineering, product, marketing, content, and communications.
- Implement AI tooling into daily workflows to drive efficiency and speed of impact.
Requirements
- 6 years of experience in technology communications or a related field.
- Experience developing and executing communications strategies for consumer technology products or platforms with large-scale user bases.
- Experience managing media relations, including proactive pitching and reactive issues management for complex or high-profile topics.
- Experience writing and editing a range of communications materials including press releases, media pitches, executive talking points, and briefing documents.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners including product, legal, and policy teams to align messaging and execute communications plans.
