About the Role

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead the delivery of strategic medical affairs engagements while driving business growth and developing the teams around you. This role spans medical strategy and planning, evidence generation, and organizational excellence, requiring a consultant with medical affairs understanding to put evidence to strategic use. You will be central to meeting client expectations for technical depth, fluency in medical affairs operations, challenging assumptions, and providing clear answers to strategic questions.

Responsibilities

  • Help clients address challenges across medical planning and strategy, integrated evidence generation, launch readiness, field medical optimization, and operating-model design.
  • Oversee research, analysis, and the design of deliverables such as strategic and medical plans, evidence roadmaps, operating models, and client workshops.
  • Ground work in medical affairs strategy, connecting evidence and analysis to clients’ medical objectives, evidence-generation planning, scientific communication, field medical, and launch.
  • Translate complex evidence and analysis into clear strategic implications and recommended actions, pressure-testing interpretations and offering perspectives on client actions.
  • Identify and pursue new business within existing and new clients, developing proposals, scoping, and costing engagements accurately.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports and project teams, setting clear expectations and building capability.
  • Manage workstreams and stakeholders, ensuring coordination, efficient communication, and timely delivery.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the practice by helping shape new capabilities and offerings.

Requirements

  • Prior consulting experience is required.
  • Proven ability to deliver impactful client work and manage engagements in a consulting environment.
  • Strong understanding of medical affairs and how evidence, scientific strategy, and field medical connect to broader business priorities and patient impact across the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to interrogate evidence and translate it into strategy, connecting technical findings to clinical and commercial implications without losing rigor.
  • Demonstrated business development ability, including building and sustaining senior client relationships and converting opportunities into growth.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills, with a track record of managing and developing teams and direct reports.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, able to distill complex science and evidence into clear, credible, executive-ready narratives for cross-functional audiences.
