About the Role

OneView is seeking a Technical Product Owner with a DevOps background to manage the workflow for the DevSecOps team. This team is critical as it builds and secures the platform used by all other teams within the company. The role involves prioritizing incoming requests from various departments and managing the Platform Engineering roadmap, including the development of an internal developer platform. The Technical Product Owner will be responsible for deciding what work the team undertakes, in what order, and what is declined, often needing to say "no" or "not yet". This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Own the intake path into the DevSecOps team, qualifying every request by understanding the desired outcome, affected parties, impact, dependencies, and due dates.
  • Establish the problem a request aims to solve before the team commits to a solution, especially when a specific solution is proposed.
  • Rank inbound requests and Platform Engineering roadmap items on a single backlog based on urgency and value, publishing the ranking and keeping it refined for engineers.
  • Make trade-offs explicit and answer to teams whose work is displaced by the ranking.
  • Bring the team's improvement ideas to the Sr. Director as roadmap proposals, detailing the problem, scope, and effort.
  • Translate the Platform Engineering roadmap, including IDP build-out, into deliverable backlog items and maintain their current status for dependent teams.
  • Report IDP adoption and user feedback to the Sr. Director.
  • Limit work in progress to what the team can finish and resist mid-sprint insertions.
  • Make the cost of an interruption visible when one is unavoidable.
  • Translate requesters' needs into concrete platform, automation, tooling, and security requirements with testable acceptance criteria.
  • Own the intake of unplanned and obligation-driven demand, including post-incident remediation and work from compliance, audit, and security commitments.
  • Sequence unplanned work against all other priorities.
  • Coordinate dependencies across internal teams and third-party vendors, surfacing them early to prevent delays.
  • Report on flow metrics such as lead time, work in progress, throughput, queue depth, unplanned work proportion, and the split between inbound requests and platform initiatives.
  • Use metrics to advocate for more capacity or automation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or equivalent backlog-owning role.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in DevOps, security operations, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering.
  • Working experience with Git, CI/CD tools (CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions), cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud), containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible), scripting (Python, Bash, JavaScript), monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, AppDynamics, CloudWatch, Splunk), and operating systems (Linux, UNIX).
  • Working knowledge of security practices for cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines, including access control, secrets handling, and pipeline guardrails.
  • Ability to conduct intake conversations with engineers and derive complete requirements, identifying omissions and downstream impacts.
  • Skill in writing acceptance criteria that account for adjacent systems, integrations, existing platform behavior, and the story itself.
  • Proficiency in translating business requirements into technical terms and technical constraints into business-understandable decisions.
  • Experience ranking infrastructure or platform work against feature or customer work and defending the ranking to stakeholders.
  • Experience declining requests from senior stakeholders, explaining the reasoning, and maintaining relationships.
  • Experience coordinating dependencies across multiple internal teams and external parties, managing a dependency tracker used by program teams.
