About the Role
The Chief of Staff partners with the Managing Director to drive strategic initiatives, manage the leadership operating rhythm, and provide operational support. This role is integral to the Operations team, ensuring smooth functioning and alignment across global teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Managing Director to turn leadership priorities into clear, owned strategic initiatives with scope, milestones, and decision points.
- Drive initiatives forward week to week, unblocking owners, escalating early, and providing recommendations to the Managing Director.
- Own the leadership operating rhythm, including partner meetings, business reviews, quarterly planning, and OKR check-ins.
- Maintain a single view of internal projects, their status, owners, and priorities, and help sequence work against capacity and budget.
- Run regular portfolio reviews to inform leadership about project status.
- Provide general operational support across IT, systems, purchasing, resourcing, and office logistics.
- Manage approvals, vendor and software requests, budgets, and renewals on behalf of the Managing Director.
- Track action items from leadership meetings.
- Draft internal communications, briefings, and decision memos.
- Help align teams across the US, the Philippines, and LatAm on policies and ways of working.
- Manage the Managing Director’s agenda, inbox, and time.
- Work collaboratively cross-functionally within Modus.
- Undertake other duties and special projects related to the position.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in operations, program or project management, consulting, or a Chief of Staff or executive support role.
- Preference for a professional services background.
- Located in the NYC metro area.
- Flexibility to meet onsite 1-2 days/week to collaborate with the Managing Director.
- Consistent track record of moving cross-functional initiatives from idea to delivery in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and comfort juggling many workstreams at once.
- Ability to drive accountability and influence without direct authority.
- Confidentiality and good judgment in sensitive situations.
- Practical experience handling tactical operational duties while driving big-picture initiatives.
- Comfort with numbers, including building spreadsheet models, reading a P&L, and understanding utilization figures.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working with senior leaders.
- Demonstrated passion for operational efficiency and process optimization.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and open-ended problems.
