About the Role
Data at Atom powers products like predicted grades and adaptive learning, handling over a million new question responses daily. You will own the modeling and availability of this data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data models for customer-facing features.
- Build and own reliable pipelines between application, warehouse, and product.
- Shape the technical direction of the data platform and data modeling standards.
- Improve testing, data quality, and observability.
- Critically review and provide feedback on other engineers' code and designs.
- Mentor engineers and enhance data capability across the team.
- Make data safer and easier for engineers and teams to use.
- Utilize AI tools throughout work, with the judgment to identify inaccuracies.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing, building, and scaling production data pipelines and models in Python and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse (ideally BigQuery) and dbt.
- Strong data modeling instincts, considering grain, history, and idempotency.
- A habit of proactively identifying data quality issues.
- Experience leading technical decisions and reviewing others' work.
- Experience owning work end-to-end with a high degree of autonomy.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Ability to explain data problems to non-technical colleagues.
- Confidence with AI tools and ability to explain and defend shipped work.
