About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to join our Experience Engineering team, contributing to the creation of high-quality digital products and services. This is a hands-on role with significant technical influence, involving collaboration across various teams to transform user and business needs into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. You will help shape technical decisions while remaining involved in coding and owning the software development lifecycle. You will work on complex digital challenges, with opportunities to lead technical delivery, solve difficult engineering problems, mentor developers, and improve engineering standards. We value strong engineering fundamentals, technical judgment, and adaptability over a rigid checklist of technologies.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, deploy, and support production-grade applications across frontend and backend technologies.
Take ownership of complex features and services throughout the software development lifecycle.
Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Architects, Engineers, and client stakeholders to create effective technical solutions.
Shape application architecture, APIs, integration patterns, data flows, and cloud solutions, making pragmatic technical decisions.
Build responsive, accessible, and performant user experiences using modern frontend engineering approaches.
Develop backend services and APIs that are secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
Champion engineering quality through automated testing, code review, secure development, CI/CD, observability, and production support.
Lead technical discussions and code reviews, guiding teams in making sound engineering decisions.
Mentor and support other developers through pairing, coaching, knowledge sharing, and feedback.
Contribute reusable patterns, components, and approaches to enhance engineering quality and developer experience.
Explore and implement appropriate uses of AI-assisted engineering and automation to improve productivity and software quality.

Requirements

Strong commercial experience delivering production software across the full stack.
Depth in modern JavaScript and TypeScript engineering.
Hands-on experience with Node.js.
Experience with one or more modern frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.
Experience designing and developing APIs and backend services using approaches like REST or GraphQL.
Experience managing software through the full development lifecycle, including design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
Strong understanding of software design, architecture patterns, code quality, security, and maintainability.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Experience with modern CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Good knowledge of frontend engineering principles including responsive design, accessibility, performance, and component-based development.
Experience diagnosing complex technical problems and making pragmatic engineering decisions.
Experience working collaboratively with architecture, product, UX, and engineering disciplines.
Experience communicating technical choices clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers and improving engineering practices.
Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and understand system interdependencies.
An interest in using AI-assisted development and automation responsibly.
Must be able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
Must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years to obtain SC clearance.
May be asked about citizenship due to potential restrictions for sole UK Nationals.
