About the Role

As a Life & Pensions Business Data Analyst, you will help solve our clients’ most challenging business and data problems. Your role will focus on stakeholder management, requirements gathering and prioritisation, process mapping, and translating complex business needs into practical solutions. This role is crucial in helping clients develop scalable and cutting-edge solutions that support long-term business objectives, especially as the use of AI, data, and technology becomes more prevalent in the Insurance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as client-facing presence, building trusted advisor relationships and facilitating collaborative conversations with various client stakeholders.
  • Build a detailed understanding of requirements across business stakeholder groups, recognising their nuances and complexity, navigating sensitivities effectively, and securing formal sign-off.
  • Analyse, profile and reconcile client data using SQL to assess requirements and define transformations across actuarial and finance systems.
  • Navigate organisational complexity and influence stakeholder groups, executive sponsors, IT leadership, and business owners to secure buy-in around a shared vision.
  • Distil business conversations into clear delivery requirements, break down complex issues, and propose practical solutions.
  • Rationalise and prioritise business requirements using techniques such as the MoSCoW method, while constructively challenging business thinking.
  • Map and analyse current-state processes and design holistic future-state business processes.
  • Apply data strategy frameworks to translate requirements into defined work packages covering areas such as data governance, regulatory standards, and platform integration.
  • Bring solution concepts to life by developing practical use cases from business conversations.
  • Coordinate multi-pod or multi-workstream engagements, ensuring a consistent client experience and confirming that the solution architecture meets the requirements of all relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Enforce delivery standards across the pod, including sprint cadences, stakeholder communication plans, working groups and workshops, risk management, and project planning throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Proactively manage client engagement during and after go-live, including defining the support model and planning an effective transition and roll-off.
  • Mentor and develop junior business data analysts.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of data strategy and data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience in a client-facing environment, including substantial experience in a business analysis or data analysis role.
  • Hands-on experience in the insurance sector, ideally within actuarial, regulatory reporting, or another finance-related area.
  • Hands-on experience working in a project-based environment, with responsibility for owning and delivering defined outputs and a sound understanding of project delivery methodologies.
  • Good understanding of data strategy, data governance and the core components of data solution.
  • Proficiency with business analysis, diagramming and presentation tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Experience leading a defined workstream, coordinating activities, and managing delivery against agreed outcomes would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and an understanding of common platform services, including storage, compute, identity and access management, and networking, would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work directly with business and technical teams, as well as programme stakeholders, in fast-paced and ambiguous delivery environments would be advantageous.
  • Experience working effectively within hybrid onshore and offshore teams would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation tools, such as Excel, SQL (via Databricks, Snowflake), and Power BI, would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled delivery and the practical use of AI within a project-based environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience supporting contract management activities, including monitoring deliverables, dependencies, and obligations, would be advantageous.
