About the Role

As Director of Product Marketing, you will own how Homebase wins small business owners by defining the company narrative, pricing, packaging, target industries, and sales/support messaging. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the CMO, leading the Product Marketing team and collaborating with Growth, Creative, Product, Sales, and Support.

Responsibilities

  • Own the company narrative and its testing system, ensuring consistent messaging across departments.
  • Define and manage pricing and packaging strategies to enhance revenue per customer.
  • Utilize data to select target industries and execute vertical growth campaigns.
  • Develop comprehensive kits for sales and support, including insights, competitor maps, and messaging.
  • Equip Sales and Support with effective scripts, plays, bundles, and offers.
  • Partner with Product to position core offerings like Team App, Payroll, Cash Out, and Hiring.
  • Build a customer insight engine through owner conversations and market analysis.
  • Organize the Product Marketing team, prioritize quarterly objectives, and focus on revenue-generating activities.
  • Develop team members for larger roles and implement an AI-integrated weekly cadence for research, briefs, testing, and analysis.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in Product Marketing or go-to-market roles.
  • Proven experience leading and growing a Product Marketing team.
  • Experience building a company narrative from customer insight and gaining leadership buy-in.
  • Demonstrated success in owning pricing and packaging decisions with measurable revenue impact.
  • Experience working with growth teams in self-serve or high-velocity businesses, judging messaging on conversion.
  • Experience building industry or segment go-to-market programs that were adopted by marketing and sales.
  • Proficiency in using AI in daily work and evaluating its output.
  • Experience marketing to small businesses or hourly teams (bonus).
  • Background in HR, payroll, or fintech software (bonus).
  • Experience with pricing in freemium-to-paid models (bonus).
  • Avoid roles focused solely on brand campaigns, launch plans, or slide-based positioning.
  • Avoid playbooks from enterprise, sales-led businesses with long deal cycles.
  • Ability to test and learn in weeks, not months.
  • Willingness to write the first draft of the story and lead hands-on.
