About the Role

This role oversees all engineering, maintenance, and asset protection functions across multiple hotel properties, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The Complex Chief Engineer leads teams, manages maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with safety standards, playing a critical role in asset protection and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations across multiple properties.
Ensure efficient and effective operation of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
Perform and oversee preventative maintenance programs.
Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergency situations.
Lead, train, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
Assign and monitor work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
Oversee third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring quality, cost control, and adherence to timelines.
Manage service contracts, preventative maintenance agreements, and vendor relationships.
Support capital expenditure planning and execution.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain proper documentation for inspections, permits, and maintenance records.
Implement and enforce safety protocols.
Assist in developing and managing engineering budgets.
Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Support forecasting and long-term asset planning.
Ensure timely and professional response to guest maintenance requests.
Maintain the overall appearance and condition of the property.
Collaborate with department leaders to support seamless hotel operations.

Requirements

4–6 years of experience in engineering or maintenance within hospitality, commercial facilities, or a related field.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance systems.
Experience with maintenance management systems (e.g., QUORE or similar) preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities across a multi-property environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Customer service mindset.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to travel between properties and respond to operational needs.
