About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer to own a product area end to end, from understanding the practice's problem to shipping, running, and improving it with real usage data, focusing on outcomes rather than just tasks. You will work directly with product, design, and practices, and be accountable for solving problems with your code.
Responsibilities
- Own outcomes, not tasks; define scope, timelines, and success criteria for your area, and align stakeholders.
- Make and stand behind technical decisions, including architecture, trade-offs, and build vs. buy.
- Maintain system-wide context across PMS integrations, data model, and clients.
- Continuously raise the bar in areas like testing, documentation, CI/CD, and observability.
- Shape how we work with AI, actively contributing to evolving tooling and practices.
- Enable others through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pairing.
- Write specs and plans before prompting AI tools.
- Review agent output with rigor, ensuring modules are understood before shipping.
- Test relentlessly to turn unreliable agents into reliable systems.
- Evaluate, correct, and improve AI-generated output, focusing on architecture, security, and performance.
- Understand the spectrum of when a throwaway prototype is acceptable versus when full engineering discipline is required.
- Spend significant time reviewing and validating AI output.
- Ensure data privacy and security, adhering to GDPR and professional secrecy regulations.
- Engage in small team, short-path decision-making, conversing directly with practices, product, and customer support.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience shipping and operating production systems, including being paged for your own code.
- Track record of owning projects end to end, from problem statement to production and iteration.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, design, data, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable talking directly to end users.
- Ability to think beyond your own code, considering business context, user needs, and product goals.
- Proactive ownership without waiting for instructions.
- Ability to make decisions under ambiguity and escalate when necessary.
- Open and clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Go, and Dart/Flutter is helpful, but strong fundamentals are prioritized.
- Experience in healthcare, dental, or another regulated domain is a bonus.
- Experience with integrating into legacy on-premise systems is a bonus.
- Must live in Germany.
- Must have the right to work in Germany.
- Business-fluent German (C1 or better) is required.
