About the Role
The Billing, Payment, and Pricing platform is the backbone of the company, impacting customer trust, support effort, and retention. This role is crucial for the next phase of growth, involving quarterly billing, live marketing of electric vehicles and battery storage, and new payment methods. You will own the end-to-end customer and data journey from onboarding to billing.
Responsibilities
- Own the domain end to end, prioritizing with a dedicated dev team, writing PRDs, refining with engineering, and releasing changes from price corrections to multi-month initiatives.
- Make billing understandable for customers, ensuring clarity on invoices, advance payments, and credit balances.
- Own Payrate and Open Balance, managing product levers for automated dunning stages, payment allocation, retry logic, mandate logic, and installment payments.
- Build platform components like billing and payment services, and pricing and invoice APIs, making conscious decisions about what becomes a reusable platform function.
- Enable new business models such as live marketing of EVs and battery storage, and heating/night storage tariffs.
- Navigate regulatory requirements like §14a EnWG, §41a and §40/40c EnWG, MsbG, TAF7 vs. SLP, 15-Minute Day-Ahead, and network fee reductions.
- Utilize AI tools for analysis, documentation, data checks, and recurring processes to enhance personal workflow.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Customer Support, Operations, Finance/Controlling, BI, Legal, Partner Management, Sales, and other Product Squads.
- Provide weekly transparent reports to the team and leadership.
Requirements
- Around 2-4 years of professional experience, ideally as a Product Owner or Product Manager with a dev team, covering discovery, PRD, refinement, and release.
- Experience in consulting, finance, controlling, or analytics, with a track record of structured problem-solving and collaborative solution implementation.
- Ability to build trust across teams, listen before deciding, and bring stakeholders with diverse interests together.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex matters to support, finance, and leadership.
- Strong proficiency in German and English.
- Ability to think in lifecycles, considering the entire customer journey from pricing to final billing and payment.
- Willingness to look beyond your own domain and understand the needs of upstream and downstream teams.
- Comfort with complex systems, pricing components, advance payments, and receivables.
- Aptitude for rules, special cases, data models, and process logic.
- Ability to trace problems to their root cause and formulate clear hypotheses.
- Proficiency in using data tools for analysis.
- Ability to prioritize effectively under deadlines, communicate risks early, and find robust, pragmatic solutions.
- Attention to detail without getting lost in it.
- Natural use of AI tools for analysis, documentation, specification, and automation.
