About the Role

This front-office aligned role supports the Capital Markets COO and senior business heads, focusing on the firm’s FX franchise and FX payments capability. The mandate combines day-to-day business management with leading complex, cross-functional commercial initiatives across Sales, Trading, Operations, Technology, and Support & Control functions. The primary focus is the firm’s MiFID-regulated FX business.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Capital Markets COO and senior business heads in the day-to-day management and strategic development of the business, with a particular focus on FX and FX payments.
  • Lead and coordinate key commercial initiatives from concept through to delivery, including new business launches, payments capability buildouts, product expansion and regulatory-driven change.
  • Support the design and buildout of FX payments workflows end to end, from client onboarding and FX execution through to payment initiation, settlement and reconciliation.
  • Work with Operations and Technology on payment rails and infrastructure, including SWIFT, SEPA, Faster Payments, correspondent and partner banking, and multi-currency account and virtual IBAN models.
  • Coordinate across Compliance, Legal and Finance on payments regulatory requirements, including the Payment Services Regulations, safeguarding, and financial crime and fraud controls.
  • Support new product, market and workflow assessments across the FX product set, from Spot through to Options, including process mapping, control considerations and implementation readiness.
  • Partner with Risk and Credit on credit and market risk considerations, including counterparty credit, PFE and VaR, as part of new business and product initiatives.
  • Define project scope, operating models, milestones and delivery plans, ensuring clear ownership, governance and accountability across competing priorities and dependencies.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for senior management, governance forums and committees.
  • Coordinate responses to audits, regulatory reviews and internal governance actions, maintaining a strong control environment aligned with MiFID II and payments regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • A strong, demonstrable track record of delivering large-scale, cross-functional business initiatives from concept through to implementation, gained in a COO, Business Management, Chief of Staff, Strategy / Execution or Programme Delivery role within financial services.
  • Experience gained in, or working closely with, a cross-border payments or FX payments firm, for example an authorised payment institution, an e-money institution or a bank payments business.
  • Strong understanding of payments infrastructure and messaging, including SWIFT (ISO 20022), SEPA, Faster Payments and correspondent banking models.
  • Working knowledge of UK payments regulation, including the Payment Services Regulations 2017, the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 and safeguarding requirements.
  • Solid FX product and market knowledge, from FX Spot through to FX Options.
  • Working understanding of credit risk (PFE) and market risk (VaR) metrics.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align and, where necessary, challenge stakeholders across Front Office and the Support & Control functions.
  • Understanding of MiFID II and how it applies alongside payments regulation in an FX business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of materials for senior management and governance forums, while remaining hands-on and eager to learn and develop.
