About the Role
The UK National Group Exercise Product Manager shapes and delivers the UK Group Exercise strategy and format portfolio, owning commercial performance, programming standards, and instructor development to maintain Virgin Active as a world-class group fitness brand.
Responsibilities
- Drive GEX programming excellence with a focus on the end product, experience delivery, and quality control.
- Act as a brand ambassador, role-modelling high standards of behaviour.
- Line manage and develop format Leads and the GEX Optimisation Manager.
- Own the UK Group Exercise ‘Product Roll Out’ plan, ensuring effective project management by format Leads.
- Manage the UK Group Exercise budget, optimizing timetables for member demand, instructors, formats, and timing.
- Ensure Virgin Active is the GEX ‘Employer of Choice’ by maintaining a defined instructor Academy journey.
- Create and update processes and policies to improve GEX management in clubs.
- Influence the direction of Group Exercise across Virgin Active as a key stakeholder.
- Continuously evaluate formats and timetables, making data-driven changes.
- Foster a culture where the community becomes raving fans of Group Exercise through activations, events, and communication.
- Represent Virgin Active as the UK GEX expert in marketing, PR, trade shows, conferences, and events.
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with team members, taking ownership.
- Deliver Virgin Active’s commercial and membership targets for Group Exercise.
- Partner with Facilities and Product teams on capital investment projects for GEX spaces.
- Build relationships with industry thought leaders to grow awareness of Virgin Active as a leading GEX brand.
- Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends and make strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate across functional teams to drive seamless online and offline customer experiences.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Group Exercise, with a strong track record as a GEX coach or instructor.
- Experience leading and developing multi-format teams, ideally including Leads of Concept.
- Proven experience in commercial and P&L management, including timetable and budget optimisation.
- Strong project management experience, with a track record of delivering GEX product roll-outs.
- A highly regarded reputation in group exercise with members and fellow instructors.
- Experience building and maintaining an instructor development pathway (Academy journey, CPD, certification).
- Ability to obtain a clear DBS check.
- Flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule, including UK travel and occasional weekend working.
