About the Role

This is a significant leadership opportunity for a program director to shape and deliver a portfolio of reforms transforming rail access across NSW. You’ll help create greater clarity, accountability and efficiency across the industry while supporting government priorities, strengthening the NSW supply chain and unlocking commercial value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a complex, multidisciplinary portfolio spanning freight, technology, regulatory, operational, infrastructure and commercial reform, ensuring initiatives are delivered to scope, time, budget and intended benefits.
  • Provide strategic direction across interconnected programs, managing critical pathways, dependencies, financial performance and risk while responding to changing priorities and removing barriers to delivery.
  • Build trusted relationships across Government, Transport for NSW, operating agencies and the freight rail industry, navigating complex stakeholder and governance environments to influence decisions, align priorities and deliver sustainable reform.
  • Lead and integrate cross-functional teams, establishing clear accountability and a high-performance culture while driving change, embedding new ways of working and providing transparent advice to senior sponsors and governance forums.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge and experience within the rail industry, with a strong understanding of its operational and stakeholder environment.
  • Proven senior leadership experience delivering large-scale, end-to-end rail programs and complex transformation, from strategy and planning through execution, transition and benefits realisation.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams across technology, operations, regulatory, infrastructure and commercial environments.
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with expertise in governance, financial and resource management, risk and complex program interdependencies.
  • Highly effective at influencing senior government, industry and executive stakeholders and navigating competing priorities.
  • Resilient change leader who can maintain momentum, manage resistance and embed new ways of working within dynamic environments.
