About the Role
As an Underwriter, you will assess and underwrite new business and renewal submissions across Liability lines, evaluate risks, apply underwriting expertise to pricing and coverage decisions, and build strong relationships with brokers to drive new business and maximise renewal retention. You will also support efficiencies and process improvements and collaborate with underwriters across other product lines.
Responsibilities
- Assessing and underwriting new business and renewal submissions across Liability lines, in accordance with Pen Underwriting guidelines.
- Evaluating risks by reviewing broker submissions, insureds' operations, risk controls, financial position, and relevant policies, procedures and certifications.
- Applying underwriting expertise to risk assessment, claims history analysis, pricing and coverage decisions across new and existing Liability accounts.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers to drive new business opportunities and maximise renewal retention.
- Support efficiencies and process improvements in the team
- Collaborating with underwriters across other product lines to strengthen broker relationships and identify growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ underwriting experience, ideally within Liability insurance products.
- Strong risk assessment, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to work within delegated authority.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with brokers, agents and clients.
- Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Sound understanding of Australian insurance regulations, compliance requirements and Microsoft Office applications.
