About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and production systems for a defense engineering organization. This role involves architecting and ensuring the reliability of our AWS environment and Kubernetes clusters, managing infrastructure-as-code, and implementing robust access controls and secrets management. The ideal candidate balances velocity with security and reliability in a security-sensitive, compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and manage production workloads on AWS, including core services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
- Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters, including workload scheduling, networking (CNI), and cluster upgrades.
- Author and maintain Terraform modules to provision and manage multi-environment infrastructure-as-code.
- Own core networking fundamentals across the environment: DNS, TLS/PKI, routing, load balancing, and service mesh.
- Implement least-privilege access controls and secrets management using tools such as Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
- Own production systems at scale, including reliability, performance, and incident response.
- Partner with engineering to build deployment pipelines and infrastructure that support rapid, secure delivery.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional DevOps/Infrastructure Engineering experience, including ownership of production systems at scale.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise architecting, deploying, and managing production workloads on AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, or equivalent core services).
- Production experience designing, deploying, and operating Kubernetes clusters, including workload scheduling, networking (CNI), and cluster upgrades.
- Advanced experience authoring and maintaining Terraform modules for multi-environment infrastructure-as-code.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS/PKI, routing, load balancing, and service mesh concepts.
- Demonstrated experience implementing least-privilege access controls and secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or equivalent).
