About the Role

At Fresh Clinics, the Senior Financial Accountant is the technical backbone of a finance function undergoing transformation. This role is responsible for ensuring numbers stand up to scrutiny, owning the month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting, technical accounting, and group consolidation across Australia and the US. The position also plays a key role in strengthening financial controls and building efficient, scalable accounting processes. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role combines technical expertise with a hands-on approach to improving Finance operations, with a pathway to Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Own and coordinate the monthly close across Australian and US entities, including a structured close calendar and review process, working with AP, AR, Payroll, and commercial/operations teams.
  • Ensure material balance sheet accounts are reconciled, supported, and reviewed monthly, including accruals, provisions, and prepayments, and clear aged reconciling items.
  • Keep workpapers audit-ready year-round, act as the day-to-day contact for external auditors, and drive remediation of audit findings.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements for Australian and US entities, and deliver monthly group consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
  • Work with tax advisers to deliver accurate, timely tax compliance in Australia and the US.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with technical accounting matters and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Review payroll reconciliations and payroll-related accounts, and help maintain payroll accounting and compliance controls.
  • Simplify, standardise, and automate close and reporting processes, and optimise the use of accounting systems and tools.

Requirements

  • CA or CPA qualification is a firm requirement.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and external audit exposure.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise across AASB and IFRS.
  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements and multi-entity consolidations, including intercompany eliminations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian tax (income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax).
  • Experience improving processes through automation, standardisation, and better use of systems.
  • A builder’s mindset, enjoying the creation of structure, process improvement, and lifting standards in a finance function mid-transformation.
  • Strong organisation and clear communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams, explain complex accounting in plain language, and hold ground under auditor scrutiny.
