About the Role
Lead approximately 50 engineers across Data and Software Engineering disciplines within Group Security. Shape engineering capabilities, platforms, and practices for the future, enabling trusted, scalable data and software capabilities that support security analytics and protect customers, people, and technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary teams across Data and Software Engineering.
- Provide engineering leadership for a complex, enterprise-scale data platform transition.
- Guide the evolution of data engineering capability across Snowflake, AWS, Airflow, S3, and dbt, alongside modern software engineering practices.
- Maintain accountability for software applications developed and operated by the team.
- Champion high standards of engineering quality, security, resilience, automation, and operational excellence.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Group Security to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities.
- Create clarity through periods of change, keeping engineering teams focused on security, customer, and business outcomes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Substantial experience leading engineering teams in complex enterprise environments.
- Technical depth to credibly lead experienced data and software engineers.
- Strong software engineering background complemented by deep data engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across data and software capabilities.
- Significant experience designing, delivering, or migrating enterprise-scale data platforms.
- Experience owning both engineering capability and the delivery and operation of applications or platforms.
- Strong stakeholder leadership, with the ability to influence and constructively challenge.
- Experience operating in large-scale data environments where security, risk, resilience, and data constraints are important considerations.
- A self-starting, outcome-focused leadership style.
- Technical judgement to challenge architecture, delivery, and operational decisions.
- Experience working in a security or cyber security environment, or demonstrated knowledge of security concepts and practices, would be advantageous.
