About the Role
Design and build the backend services and cloud infrastructure that process high-volume, high-integrity financial transactions for one of Australia's largest online brokerage platforms. You'll work primarily across backend services and cloud platforms — designing resilient APIs, event-driven systems and data pipelines in C#/.NET on AWS — with the ability to influence architectural decisions across distributed, transaction-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, secure services on AWS.
- Take end-to-end ownership across the SDLC, from design and development through to deployment, observability and production support.
- Contribute to solution design and architecture decisions for systems handling high-volume, high-integrity financial transactions.
- Apply engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability and performance optimisation.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, automate testing/code review, and raise team-wide engineering standards.
- Partner with product owners and domain leads to translate complex financial/trading requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical excellence, standards and continuous improvement across the crew.
Requirements
- Deep backend engineering experience in C#/.NET and REST API design.
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, transactional integrity and event-driven architecture.
- Comfortable with cloud-native patterns, containers and infrastructure-as-code.
- Comfortable working with SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging/event streaming, and workflow orchestration in a domain with complex business rules (trading, settlement, clearing).
