About the Role
We are seeking a leader to manage demand planning and purchase order execution for approximately 5,000 SKUs, ensuring optimal stock levels without overstocking. This role involves owning the entire process from planning and buying to vendor acknowledgements, cargo readiness, and final delivery, while considering physical building capacity and labor constraints.
Responsibilities
- Forecast demand across the full SKU base, including new items, seasonal ramps, and end-of-life.
- Translate forecasts into actionable buy plans with clear coverage targets by SKU and category.
- Determine inventory levels for each category to maintain stock without excess turnover, supported by analysis.
- Place purchase orders according to the plan and required cadence.
- Smooth purchasing against weekly receiving capacity to ensure buys align with building absorption limits.
- Manage seasonal pull-ahead, such as Chinese New Year, as a multi-month flow rather than a single large purchase.
- Secure timely vendor acknowledgements and enforce committed dates.
- Validate and confirm cargo ready dates.
- Coordinate with the transportation booking team for seamless alignment of bookings, transit, and receipt dates.
- Proactively identify and communicate exceptions with sufficient time for resolution.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising, transportation, and distribution center operations.
- Oversee vendor performance against acknowledged dates and cargo ready commitments.
- Address and resolve PO delays by engaging vendors and leveraging business influence.
- Develop scorecards and escalation paths for vendor performance management.
Requirements
- Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
- Deep analytical capability, with the ability to work directly in data and build models.
- Fluency with SQL, BI tools, and advanced Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn an ERP or planning system.
- Significant vendor management experience, including holding suppliers or partners to commitments.
- Demonstrated ability to build solutions with AI and automation, or a proven track record of self-teaching new tools and implementing them.
- Comfort operating against hard physical or operational constraints.
- Technical savvy and curiosity about AI and automation tools.
- Conviction that AI and automation can improve functional processes.
