The goal is to ensure matters are resolved efficiently and leadership is always informed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day commercial legal matters, including demand letters, contract disputes, claims, and settlement discussions.
  • Assess incoming issues, prioritize, recommend solutions, and drive matters to closure, engaging outside counsel as needed.
  • Coordinate with external counsel for corporate, debt, and intellectual property matters, providing clear briefs and translating legal advice into business decisions.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with attorney review where appropriate.
  • Manage inherited contractual obligations and acquisition-related cleanup, ensuring commitments and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate insurance and corporate compliance processes.
  • Provide a clear overview of open matters, financial exposure, next actions, and decisions needed from leadership, with timely updates and escalations.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in business operations, corporate development, commercial operations, legal affairs, or a similar role at a fast-moving company.
  • Experience managing outside counsel and negotiating complex commercial issues.
  • Strong commercial judgment and executive-ready communication skills.
  • Ability to assess genuine risk, recommend proportionate action, and know when to involve licensed counsel.
  • Experience managing up with concise updates and early escalation.
  • Operational range and AI fluency with healthy skepticism.
  • Ability to approach ambiguous problems by identifying issues and taking action.
  • Ability to move fast, take ownership of outcomes, and maintain high standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a low-ego, no-drama approach.
