About the Role

As an AML subject matter expert in Digital Assets, you will advise the Global AML Compliance Department and business leaders on strategies to manage AML/CFT risks associated with Digital Asset products and services. You will lead the development and implementation of relevant strategies, methodologies, controls, and program enhancements, reporting on their effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance, enhancement, and implementation of a global framework for Digital Assets financial crimes compliance, with primary responsibility for product control strategy, methodology, and implementation.
  • Provide AML advisory support for new or modified Digital Asset products and services, including tokenized deposits, stablecoins, tokenized securities, custody, settlement solutions, and CBDCs.
  • Assess how Digital Asset product structures, transaction flows, and operating models interact with existing banking and securities products, systems, policies, and controls.
  • Monitor and interpret global regulatory developments and translate expectations into actionable AML standards, methodologies, minimum control requirements, and implementation guidance.
  • Lead or coordinate product and control applicability assessments, gap analyses, risk assessments, target-state design, implementation planning, and governance materials for Digital Asset initiatives.
  • Drive integration of Digital Asset requirements into established KYC, customer risk rating, transaction monitoring, sanctions, Travel Rule, recordkeeping, regulatory reporting, and management information frameworks.
  • Lead or support the development of methodology for assessing Digital Asset AML controls, including applicability, design, and effectiveness.
  • Partner with first line strategy, product and business offices, as well as FCC and core compliance, legal, architecture, data, and project management stakeholders to ensure sustainable controls aligned with product launch and change-management timelines.
  • Advise on AML risks of next-generation payment and settlement capabilities, including real-time payments, tokenized money, distributed ledger-based settlement, and interoperability arrangements.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and governance committees on Digital Asset financial crimes compliance strategy, implementation status, dependencies, and emerging risks.
  • Lead the development of a global network of Digital Asset subject matter experts across the Regions to support consistent adoption of global standards and appropriate jurisdictional implementation.
  • May liaise with senior regional FCC leadership, support examinations, and/or act as a primary global FCC point of contact for regulators, internal audit, and independent testing functions on relevant Digital Asset product matters.

Requirements

  • Deep subject matter expertise in AML and financial crimes compliance within a large bank, broker-dealer, securities firm, payments organization, or similarly regulated global financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience providing AML advice for banking, securities, payments, custody, or treasury products, including Digital Asset products such as tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and/or tokenized securities.
  • Strong understanding of how Digital Asset features may change or extend the financial crimes risks and controls associated with traditional products, systems, and transaction flows.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop compliance strategies, methodologies, risk assessment approaches, control standards, operating models, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; a recognized leader with a track record of delivering change in complex, time-sensitive environments.
  • Working knowledge of traditional banking and securities systems and control environments, including onboarding, payments, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, investigations, and regulatory reporting platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of banking laws and regulations administered by the US and major international regulatory and standards-setting bodies.
  • Proven track-record of providing timely, practical advice to business partners, balancing FCC risk with support for execution of business processes.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and influence outcomes across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work; solid judgment and established negotiation skills.
