About the Role
TCAT is seeking a reliable, hands-on Bus Handler to join their Fleet Maintenance crew. This role is crucial for ensuring buses are fueled, cleaned, and prepped for daily operations, involving light mechanical tasks and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Clean and detail buses, inside and out, including sweeping, wiping seats, handling biohazards, and washing the wheelchair lift.
- Perform light mechanical work such as fueling, checking fluid levels, inspecting belts and brakes, and logging vehicle information.
- Drive and park buses, including moving them through the wash and into designated spots.
- Handle fare vaults by removing, installing, and securing them at the end of each shift.
- Support the maintenance team by assisting mechanics and supervisors, and training new hires.
Requirements
- CDL-B with air brake/passenger endorsement preferred.
- Commercial Permit-holders preferred.
- No CDL is required; training will be provided.
- Must be dependable and reliable in all weather conditions.
- Possess basic mechanical skills and the ability to use tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work a night shift (four 10-hour days) and occasional overtime.
- Must be able to work on feet, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work with exposure to diesel fuel, cleaning supplies, biohazards, and loud engine noise.
