About the Role
The Inspection Team Lead oversees daily workflow within the inspection department to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and customer delivery requirements are met. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and team management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the inspection team in daily operations.
- Monitor production schedules and department progress to ensure on-time delivery performance.
- Communicate potential delays, manpower concerns, or overtime needs to upper management proactively.
- Assist hands-on with departmental tasks including unmasking, touch-up work, inspection support, and other production activities as needed.
- Assign and adjust work tasks based on employee strengths, workflow efficiency, and department priorities.
- Identify bottlenecks within processes and actively assist the team to maintain production flow.
- Ensure employees are following company policies, procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
- Maintain a strong floor presence and provide leadership, accountability, and motivation to the team.
- Encourage teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Speak up when processes appear inefficient or unclear and work with management to improve operations.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Customer Service teams to support overall company goals.
- Assist in training and developing employees within the department.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership skills preferred (e.g., previous supervisory roles, high school/collegiate sports team captains, or student organization leaders).
- Manufacturing or production environment experience strongly preferred but not required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to hold employees accountable.
- Willingness to be hands-on and actively involved in department operations.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day.
