About the Role
Exercise Specialists assist patients in completing a routine exercise program under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. They help demonstrate exercises and assist patients in completing a comprehensive individual exercise program.
Responsibilities
- Instruct patients with their exercise program under the direction and guidance of the physical therapist
- Clean, sanitize, and prepare exam rooms, tables, and equipment
- Assist with the overall cleanliness of the clinic
- Appropriately schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction and maximize the overall schedule and each provider’s time
- Assist patients with filling out new patient paperwork and outcome measures
- Promptly collect patient copayments at the time of service
- Accurately address patient questions and redirect any questions that require further assistance to the appropriate person or department
- Perform other duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements
- Experience working with patients in a healthcare or physical therapy setting preferred
- Proficient experience with computers, specifically with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google Sheets
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Requires extensive standing and walking
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
- Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Skills
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of exercise science
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology and current medical office practices and procedures
- Excellent customer service and patient care skills
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent communication skills
Education Level
- Education in the field of exercise science preferred
