About the Role

Vertex is seeking enthusiastic, curious, and dedicated students for a one-year industrial placement within the International Patient Engagement (IPE) team. This role offers a hands-on learning experience in the biotech industry, focusing on how Vertex collaborates with patient communities and integrates their perspectives throughout the lifecycle of therapies.

Responsibilities

Learn about the biotech industry from a hands-on perspective.
Work closely with and learn from industry professionals.
Engage externally and understand how engagement shapes decisions across the lifecycle of Vertex’s medicines and therapies.
Collaborate with patient communities at in-country and above-country levels.
Contribute to the IPE team's efforts to bring the patients’ perspective into Vertex’s work.

Requirements

Currently undertaking studies in a scientific or business-related discipline.
Must be independently motivated and a strong team player.
Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
Evidence of ability to meet deadlines.
Candidates must be studying a university qualification which incorporates an Industrial Placement as a formal, accredited part of their studies.

Skills

Strong interest and fundamental understanding of what Patient Engagement delivers in the biotech industry.
Good written communication skills.
Good project management skills.
Good presentation skills.
