About the Role
We're looking for a product designer to help shape how people discover, understand, and get started with Base, while creating a cohesive user experience across the customer journey. You'll work across our website, enrollment experience, and mobile app, improving existing experiences and building new features. You will gather customer insights and use product metrics to identify opportunities, understand user pain points, and design solutions that improve usability, engagement, and conversion. You will take ownership of problems, independently exploring ideas and bringing solutions to life, collaborating closely with engineering, growth, operations, and the design team.
Responsibilities
- Evolve our top-of-funnel experience by identifying opportunities to improve discovery, understanding, and enrollment.
- Explore new approaches, benchmark onboarding and conversion experiences, and experiment with design and copy changes.
- Use conversion data to understand effectiveness and drive improvements.
- Shape and build new features from concept through launch across website and mobile app.
- Analyze product metrics, enrollment funnels, and member behavior to identify opportunities and inform design decisions.
- Monitor product performance post-launch, analyze results, and use insights for future improvements.
- Use AI, code, and emerging tools to prototype ideas and create working experiences.
- Simplify complex energy and grid concepts for users.
- Collaborate with the product design team to evolve and build design systems.
- Balance multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and know when to move quickly or go deeper.
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of product design experience, ideally working on consumer products.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong visual craft, thoughtful interaction design, and clear problem-solving.
- Comfort working with product metrics and analytics to understand user behavior and identify friction.
- Ability to take a defined problem, explore approaches, and independently drive a solution through launch.
- Experience using product data, customer insights, and experimentation to identify opportunities and measure impact.
- Comfort using AI and new tools beyond traditional design workflows.
- Strong Figma skills and experience working within and contributing to a design system.
- Strong design judgment and ability to create exceptional work within real-world constraints.
- Resourceful, curious mindset with a willingness to learn new skills.
- A point of view on work, paired with openness to feedback and collaboration.
- Curiosity about energy, climate, or products combining hardware and software.
