About the Role
This position participates in cross-functional settings, working with support functions, manufacturing, quality engineering, and facilities. The role is involved in minimizing risk in new parts, customers, and processes.
Responsibilities
- Interpret customer-supplied drawings and determine the best manufacturing method considering available equipment and current schedule.
- Write set-up sheet work instructions for machine center operators, including fixturing requirements, tooling, and other project-specific information.
- Write detailed work instructions for fabrication processes.
- Utilize 3D CAD software to aid shop floor employees in understanding manufacturing processes.
- Create 3D models of customer parts using supplied drawings and CAD software.
- Support the shop floor with fixture design and work-holding suggestions.
- Collaborate with shop floor employees to improve manufacturing process efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Work with Quality Control to ensure QMS requirements are met during job routing.
- Build B.O.M. on job routers to conform with customer material requirements specified on prints, parts lists, or contracts.
- Maintain revision control of manufactured parts using the ERP system.
- Assist in specifying materials, hardware, and finishing supplies for assigned jobs or projects.
- Review material certifications from vendors with QC to ensure they meet contract requirements.
- Communicate encountered issues to supervisors and customers professionally and promptly.
- Support cost reduction and continual improvement activities.
- Analyze raw data and generate reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Confident decision-making ability.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication background is a plus.
- Comfort with Mastercam, SolidWorks, Radan, Etc. or similar software is a plus.
- Knowledge of materials and their chemical and physical properties is a plus.
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001 workflow requirements and the ability to follow such procedures is a plus.
