About the Role
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment according to instructions and pre-established guidelines, ensuring safety, efficiency, and productivity within departments. This role requires limited supervision and may involve training Maintenance Technician I employees.
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance tasks assigned by the manager or through the Maintenance Activity App.
- Respond to maintenance requests for equipment repairs with a sense of urgency.
- Visually inspect equipment to prevent future problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment being repaired.
- Communicate completed work to the manager.
- Accurately complete required documentation.
- Maintain shop area and equipment used for repairs.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate re-work and waste.
- Inform manager of potential hazards.
- Prioritize and complete job tasks and work orders efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager or Director as requested.
- Maintain two-way communication with manager and team members.
- Train less experienced Maintenance Technicians and share knowledge to troubleshoot problems.
- Continuously develop knowledge and skills in best practices for equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Cross-train in different areas within the department as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety and prevent accidents.
- Serve customers with a dedicated and reliable commitment, including being on call 24/7 via phone.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- General knowledge of operational principles of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.
- General knowledge of basic carpentry.
- Skills to repair or assist in repairing equipment and facilities on the farm.
- Ability to exercise creativity in problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to train less experienced maintenance technicians.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, squat, climb, and work in a variety of positions for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the workplace and farm property.
- Ability to see, talk, and hear.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, equipment, or products weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier loads.
- Ability to work at varying heights, climb ladders or equipment, and navigate uneven, wet, muddy, or slippery terrain.
- Ability to drive or ride in farm equipment/vehicle for multiple hours at a time.
- Ability to use fine motor coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow biosecurity measures.
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Ability to safely perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Skills
- Welding skills are a plus.

Experience Level
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maintenance field or related area.
Education Level
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in related technical field is a plus.
