About the Role

Corning is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer to design, implement, and support secure, scalable integrations across manufacturing, operational technology (OT), and enterprise IT systems. The role enables reliable data exchange between plant-floor platforms and business applications through APIs, middleware, database interfaces, and related technologies. This position is central to Corning's digital manufacturing and AI/automation strategy, ensuring manufacturing data is connected, accessible, governed, and usable for operational reporting, advanced analytics, automation, and emerging AI solutions. It serves as the key link between plant operations and enterprise IT, requiring both technical depth and operational discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support integrations between manufacturing systems, OT platforms, and enterprise IT applications.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces using APIs, middleware, SQL/database integrations, file-based exchanges, and event/message-driven architectures.
  • Support interoperability across platforms such as SCADA, MES/CAMSTAR, PAC, SQL Server, Power BI, and enterprise/cloud data environments.
  • Troubleshoot interface failures, data-flow issues, and application connectivity problems, performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, enterprise IT, infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, supportable integration solutions.
  • Enable reliable manufacturing data pipelines that support reporting, automation, analytics, and AI-driven use cases.
  • Support the integration of manufacturing data into enterprise platforms such as Databricks and other cloud/data environments for advanced analytics and AI applications.
  • Help establish standards for data quality, governance, documentation, and supportability across integrated manufacturing systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including interface designs, data mappings, support procedures, and system dependencies.
  • Support testing, deployment, validation, release activities, and ongoing operational support for manufacturing interfaces and connected applications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve system interoperability, scalability, and readiness for future digital and AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems integration, application integration, enterprise systems support, OT/IT convergence, or related technical roles.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing platforms such as MES, CAMSTAR, SCADA, PAC, historians, or similar plant systems.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, web services, middleware, database integrations, file transfers, or message-based integration patterns.
  • Experience troubleshooting system interfaces, data flows, connectivity issues, and transaction-processing problems across multiple systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database concepts.
  • Experience with one or more scripting or programming languages, such as Python, Java, C#, or .NET.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms, automation solutions, or AI-enabled business environments, and the role of integrated data in enabling them.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and secure communications in segmented manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • US Citizenship required.
