About the Role
Drivers are pivotal to delivering essential services for Veolia, working hard to serve local communities and make a positive impact every day. This role involves driving and operating a Veolia vehicle, ensuring loads are within legal limits, and maintaining a professional relationship with the public and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Assist in sweeping streets and other areas, including manual sweeping.
- Ensure Gully Grids are clear of obstructions and sweepings are not pushed into them.
- Empty litter bins, replace liners, and collect sweeper bags.
- Utilize onboard technology to record task confirmation and crew issues.
- Report graffiti, fly posting, or damage/missing litter bins to management.
- Thoroughly check vehicle condition and roadworthiness at the start of each shift.
- Drive and operate supplied vehicles after receiving relevant training.
- Ensure allocated vehicle security, safe operation, and maneuvering.
- Refuel the vehicle and report any defects or damages.
- Ensure loads are within legal limits and vehicle weights are not exceeded.
- Comply with site conditions and Health & Safety procedures when entering premises.
- Adhere to all road traffic legislation, including parking restrictions.
- Leave the vehicle cab clear of litter, uniform, and personal effects at the end of the shift.
- Perform duties efficiently to ensure maximum productivity and report discrepancies.
- Report all accidents/near misses to management and the police if appropriate.
- Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with the public, clients, staff, and colleagues.
Requirements
- Valid HGV licence
- Previous sweeper experience
- Good communication skills
- Able to work well alone and as part of a team
- Previous waste experience
