About the Role
We are seeking a high-potential Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our UK Finance function. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be the central operational and analytical point, coordinating the Accounts team, owning core reporting and forecasting, resolving Finance issues, and providing commercial analysis. This role offers meaningful responsibility from the outset with opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Own management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and supporting analysis, explaining movements and identifying risks and opportunities.
- Analyze and challenge revenue, gross margin, staffing, pipeline, contract status, unbilled work, and profitability, providing clear insights and recommendations.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact and first review layer for the Accounts team, coordinating priorities, reviewing outputs, and resolving queries.
- Coordinate and review month-end, year-end, audit, routine tax, and other recurring Finance processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Oversee cash flow, working capital, customer invoicing, aged debtors, supplier payments, and routine banking matters.
- Own and improve key Finance systems and reporting tools, ensuring data accuracy and usefulness for decision-making.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve Finance processes, controls, and ways of working through automation and technology.
- Take routine Finance matters through to resolution using judgment and initiative, escalating material or strategic issues with clear assessments and recommendations.
- Take on additional Finance responsibilities and projects as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- Part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent practical experience.
- Approximately 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, FP&A, commercial Finance, or a similar area.
- Strong accounting fundamentals.
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and completing tasks.
- Analytical and commercially curious, with an interest in explaining financial data.
- Comfortable solving new problems and working with details.
- Ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities, and reprioritize quickly.
- Clear communicator comfortable working with junior colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new systems and utilize automation, AI, and technology in Finance.
- Experience coordinating or reviewing the work of a small team is useful, but not required.
