About the Role

The Cyber Security Specialist 3 ensures the deployment, operations, and continuous improvement of security tools, AI enablement technologies, and processes that protect Global Relay. This role involves advanced response to security threats and vulnerabilities, with direct experience required in access control, endpoint security, vulnerability management, and cryptography. The specialist will act as an escalation resource for technical issues, perform incident response, drive threat intelligence, and evaluate security systems and processes.

Responsibilities

Adhere to separation of duties between the security team and privileged network/Operations/DevOps team members.
Design and implement cybersecurity solutions aligned with business goals, Global Relay standards, and industry best practices.
Assess, design, and deliver AI, machine learning, or generative AI use cases to improve security operations across platforms like SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management.
Evaluate and tune AI-enabled security workflows for effectiveness, including alert enrichment, triage, detection, investigation, and response automation.
Threat-model and design safeguards for organizational use of AI, including generative AI applications, copilots, agents, MCP servers, and tool integrations, assessing risks such as prompt injection and sensitive data exposure.
Implement, manage, and monitor security technologies including Web Application Firewall (WAF), Hardware Security Modules (HSM), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms, and Vulnerability Management Platforms.
Act as the escalation point for security incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
Review, assess, and prioritize escalated security events based on severity and criticality.
Ensure compliance with security standards, regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR), and internal policies.
Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
Interpret threat intelligence to develop new security use cases and defensive strategies.
Ensure timely detection, analysis, containment, and remediation of security threats and incidents.
Monitor security tools and systems for real-time threat identification and response.
Use scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate security tasks and develop custom tools.
Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level cybersecurity team members and other IT staff.
Effectively communicate complex security concepts and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Act as a security resource in the design and deployment of Global Relay initiatives.
Design, approve, and implement device rule changes, patches, and updates aligned with the change management process.
Research and deploy security solutions, including evaluation, selection, and installation.
Develop, maintain, and review process documentation.
Lead the creation and management of audit content for Global Relay security audits.
Provide leadership in the enforcement of security policies.
Participate in security awareness initiatives.

Requirements

5-7+ years hands-on experience with core information security systems (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, antivirus/anti-malware, SIEM, two-factor/biometric authentication, server/network device hardening).
5-7+ years hands-on experience with core infrastructure and networking components (Windows/Linux servers, L2-L3 network switches/routers).
Excellent knowledge and understanding of cryptography and cryptographic technologies.
1-2 years proven experience implementing AI within complex security environments and managing AI security.
Proven experience as an escalation point for analysis of security events to determine root cause and provide resolution.
Expert understanding of Network communication protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP/SMTPS, HTTP/HTTPS) and email authentication protocols (DKIM, DMARC).
Experience using internal and external ticketing systems for ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management.
Previous experience troubleshooting day-to-day operational processes (report generation, data verification, data correlation).
Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills.
Methodical and creative approach to problem-solving.
Superior time management and prioritizing ability.
