About the Role
Lenovo is seeking a motivated Agentic Systems & Orchestration AI Engineer to design, develop, and explore next-generation AI systems. This role involves creating agentic AI systems, including multi-step agents, planners, and orchestration layers, to transform LLMs into acting, reasoning, and interacting systems. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI and contribute to Lenovo's Hybrid AI vision.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement agents that can plan tasks, call tools/APIs, decompose problems, and iterate based on feedback.
- Develop orchestration services to coordinate multiple models, agents, and tools, including policy logic and routing.
- Integrate agents with internal and external tools, handling authentication, error cases, and safety constraints.
- Manage agent state across steps and sessions, including working memory, scratchpads, and long-running workflows.
- Implement checks, constraints, and fallback policies for predictable and safe agent behavior.
- Build tracing, logging, dashboards, and replay tools for understanding agent behavior and diagnosing failures.
- Design experiments to compare agent architectures, policies, and tool sets, iterating based on metrics and feedback.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles, with experience shipping LLM-based systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience building backend services (REST/gRPC, microservices, or similar).
- Solid understanding of system design basics: latency, throughput, reliability, and failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based applications (e.g., chatbots, copilots, automation tools).
- Familiarity with at least one agentic or orchestration framework (e.g., LangChain, Autogen, CrewAI) or equivalent custom functionality.
- Ability to reason about complex multi-step flows, failure modes, and edge cases.
- Comfort diagnosing issues spanning prompts, tools, infrastructure, and product logic.
