About the Role
Join HDR's national electrical engineering team delivering medium voltage (11kV–66kV) electrical infrastructure, substations, data centres and mission critical facilities across Australia. This senior technical role requires genuine depth in medium voltage power systems, providing technical leadership, influencing engineering solutions, and acting as a trusted technical adviser to clients and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical authority within the team.
- Lead complex MV design and analysis.
- Provide technical review and assurance.
- Solve challenging engineering problems.
- Support clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide technical leadership across complex projects.
- Influence engineering solutions and design decisions.
- Act as a trusted technical adviser to clients and project teams.
- Strengthen MV capability across the broader electrical team through technical review, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Deliver technical solutions.
- Mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- Experienced electrical engineer with consulting experience.
- Significant medium voltage engineering experience.
- Strong technical capability in medium voltage systems.
- Experience in design and delivery of 11kV–66kV electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems.
- Experience in mission critical or data centre projects.
- Experience in substation and network-connected infrastructure.
- Experience in detailed MV protection and control design.
- Experience in protection coordination and protection studies.
- Experience in power system modelling and analysis.
- Experience in technical review, design assurance and resolution of complex MV engineering issues.
- Experience in development and review of technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Experience providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
- Experience working directly with clients, utilities and multidisciplinary project teams.
