About the Role

This role is on our Integrations team, connecting Invoca's AI agents to customer systems like CRMs, ad platforms, and contact centers. We own the end-to-end surface, including vendor connectors, webhooks, and production monitoring. The goal is to make integrations self-serve and reliable, utilizing Ruby on Rails and TypeScript, with AI agents assisting in code generation and review. This role is defined by outcomes: speed, quality, and trust in shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects from scoping through shipping and confirm outcome achievement.
  • Recognize and resolve dependencies and conflicts with other systems and teams.
  • Define and uphold quality standards for owned work.
  • Own technical design for features or services, deciding what to include and exclude.
  • Weigh testability, scalability, and maintainability, favoring the simplest effective approach.
  • Use AI agents routinely for writing production code, including running them in parallel and reviewing output efficiently.
  • Build personal skills, agents, or tooling to improve team speed.
  • Improve shared development system components.
  • Determine when AI can run autonomously and when human review is necessary.
  • Build customer-facing features on top of AI systems, handling non-deterministic outputs, evaluations, latency, and debugging.
  • Establish safe, observable, and auditable ways to integrate AI into the product.
  • Understand customer problems before building and confirm solutions afterward.
  • Participate in customer feedback sessions and use metrics to guide future development.
  • Partner with Product Managers to prioritize based on measurable impact.
  • Troubleshoot independently across team services.
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and recommend process/monitoring fixes.
  • Spend review time on high-risk areas and identify gaps in tooling.
  • Lead team discussions, solicit differing opinions, and support team decisions.
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.
  • Help teammates improve their AI collaboration skills through pairing, demos, and documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of measurable impact in production environments.
  • At least one full year of actively using AI tools and agents to write production code as a core part of the daily workflow.
  • Experience shipping customer-facing, AI-powered product features with real users.
  • Experience building skills, agents, or developer tooling that improved team speed.
  • Sound judgment about when AI can run autonomously and when human review is required.
  • A product-engineer mindset: ability to take an open-ended problem and ship a solution.
  • Comfort across the stack with depth where the team leans.
  • Eagerness to automate and offload work to AI.
  • Strong technical judgment with a bias toward simplicity and adoption.
  • Ability to connect technical work to customer and business outcomes and communicate it clearly.
  • Shipped a third-party integration and operated it afterward (OAuth, webhooks, vendor APIs, retries, idempotency, failure detection).
  • Built or run an MCP server or other tool-calling integration used by agents with real customers, including credential separation and verification.
  • Direct and kind communication style.
  • High agency: act without waiting for permission on reversible decisions.
  • Ability to raise the bar by thinking from first principles.
  • Create a safe environment for asking questions and admitting mistakes.
  • Bring intensity to work, meeting deadlines, flagging risks early, and finishing tasks.
  • Dig for the real problem before responding to requests.
