About the Role
As a Cashier Shift Lead, you will lead the Cashier team and support Store Leadership in maintaining excellent customer service and retail standards. You will serve as a leadership presence and Person In Charge (PIC) on the floor during your shift, often responsible for opening and closing the store. Your primary duties include overseeing the cash register and front end, handling customer inquiries, and assisting with stocking and merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Floor Supervisor to supervise employees and assist with tasks as necessary, including daily PIC check-ins with all staff
- Work with the Floor Supervisor to distribute work evenly among all staff, assigning duties to specific employees based on role and skills
- Assist the Floor Supervisor and Store Leadership in coordinating breaks as needed
- Ensure excellent customer service and hospitality standards are upheld
- Demonstrate consistent work attendance
- Assist with training new and current staff in all departments
- Monitor product and check for expiration, ensuring products are routinely FIFO-ed and waste is accurately tracked and reported
- Maintain retail standards in terms of cleanliness, facing, stocking, tagging, and merchandising
- Maintain a clean and orderly space on the floor, in the walk-in, and in the back rooms according to Company protocols
- Ensure food safety standards are being met at all times
- Balance cash drawers and prepare cash deposits
- Maintain a positive, equitable work environment for all staff
- Stay informed about weekly items and guide customers to product locations throughout the store
- Participate in mandatory quarterly store-wide inventory counts
- Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, team members, and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Proficiency in English
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required; must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly
- Having a positive attitude, team mentality, and eagerness to learn is a must
