This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to grow in substantive and strategic leadership while contributing to poverty reduction.
Responsibilities

- Directly represent family law clients, conducting intakes in-person and virtually.
- Balance individual casework with management and leadership responsibilities.
- Mentor the team and oversee legal advice and representation by ensuring mastery in legal advocacy and relevant practice areas.
- Hire, train, support, mentor, and manage all Family Law Team staff, interns, fellows, and volunteers, including performance management and professional development.
- Develop and maintain public relations with other legal service organizations, social service organizations, and private attorneys for partnerships, referrals, and mentorship.
- Maintain knowledge to competently represent clients in SF Superior Court in dissolution, custody, DVROs, child support, guardianship, and adoption matters, and advise on matters litigated outside San Francisco.
- Use creative strategies and data to increase department capacity and reach strategic vision.
- Lead knowledge management for all areas of civil law and civil procedure handled by the team.
- Drive the creation of uniform systems, checklists, and templates to ensure high-quality work products and adherence to best practices.
- Develop innovative solutions for case capacity, intake distribution, case opening standards, success criteria, quality control, and onboarding new attorneys.
- Provide services and support to low-income clients with sensitivity to cultural, socio-economic, and disability barriers, and skillfully navigate difficult situations.
- Ensure the Family Law Team's client feedback rating remains positive.
- Embrace and embody ODL's values of teamwork, grit, caring, passion, and dynamism.
