About the Role
Help rebuild a consumer-facing AI/LegalTech product from the ground up. Build services, own how they run, and keep the AI infrastructure clean, observable and affordable. This role is for an engineer who thinks about shipped features and how they stay up at 3am.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship backend services in TypeScript / Node.js, including APIs, data models, business logic, and LLM integrations.
- Design schemas that are resilient to real users and changing requirements.
- Own meaningful slices of the product end-to-end, making decisions and shipping work.
- Own AWS infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, VPC, IAM) managed as code with CDK.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines for confident building, testing, deployment, and rollback.
- Own the AI infrastructure for Settify’s LLM features, including model access, tracing, monitoring, eval pipelines, rate limits, retries, and timeouts.
- Build observability into the delivery pipeline, including alert design, SLI/SLO definition, and incident response.
- Assist with taking Settify to new regions through repeatable regional deployments.
- Maintain customer data security through IAM, secrets, encryption, and backups, working towards SOC 2 compliance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and shipping production software, including experience owning the platform it ran on.
- Deep proficiency in Node.js on the backend and good working experience in TypeScript.
- Strong AWS expertise (Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, VPC, IAM).
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with CDK or Terraform.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.) with automated testing, deployments, and rollbacks.
- Observability fluency (Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus, CloudWatch) and alert design experience.
- Strong data modeling instincts and experience with databases (Postgres, DynamoDB).
- Hands-on LLM infrastructure experience (API integration, rate limits, retries, timeouts, cost/latency monitoring).
- A CS or engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Light React familiarity for debugging or contributing to admin UI.
- Experience setting up and running multi-region cloud deployments.
- Background in LegalTech, FinTech, HealthTech, or other regulated industries.
- Experience with zero-to-one product launches in early-stage teams.
- Experience with LLM observability tooling (Langfuse, Phoenix, Helicone) in production.
- Security-aware development practices (auth patterns, OWASP basics, secrets management, PII handling).
- Concise verbal and written communication skills.
