About the Role
This six-month internship with The New Republic's editorial team offers hands-on experience in copyediting, fact-checking, transcription, administrative duties, and writing for the website. Training will be provided, and the role is ideal for individuals passionate about news, language, and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Copyediting web pieces and/or newsletters daily.
- Fact-checking web pieces of various lengths intermittently.
- Handling RightSignature paperwork for freelancers.
- Maintaining the editorial calendar in Asana.
- Writing for TNR’s breaking news feed as time and ability allow.
- Assisting with transcription.
Requirements
- Must be available for six months starting January 4, 2027.
- Must be a full-time student or work part-time during the day.
- Must follow the news.
- Must be well-organized.
- Must pay close attention to detail.
- Must submit a résumé and a cover letter tailored to TNR.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of TNR's work.
- Finalists will be asked to take a copy-editing test.
