About the Role
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking a Construction Sales Engineer to support the San Francisco market and surrounding area. This role owns project-based revenue growth and market share expansion by developing strong relationships across the construction ecosystem, finding opportunities early, and positioning Siemens low- and medium-voltage power distribution solutions throughout the project lifecycle. The individual will develop and complete strategic territory and account plans, build and maintain a qualified pipeline, and deliver disciplined forecasts. Coordination with consulting engineers, electrical contractors, distributors, end users, and Siemens sales teams is required.
Responsibilities
- Growing revenue and market share with accountability for measurable sales results.
- Developing and driving sales plans that prioritize target customers, project pursuits, competitive opportunities, and actions required to grow share.
- Building a qualified project pipeline; maintaining accurate opportunity data, project timing, next steps, risks, and forecast updates in designated sales tools.
- Engaging across the full construction project lifecycle—from early design and specification through bid, award, execution, and follow-on opportunities—to identify and advance Siemens solutions.
- Building trusted relationships with consulting engineers, electrical contractors, owners, developers, end users, distributors, channel partners, and other collaborators who influence project decisions.
- Influencing basis-of-design and project specifications by providing technical and commercial guidance early in the project cycle.
- Managing project pursuit activities in coordination with internal Siemens teams, including opportunity qualification, collaborator mapping, competitive strategy, solution positioning, and pursuit follow-through.
- Engaging distributors and channel partners to improve opportunity visibility, coordinate account actions, and strengthen Siemens’ position with contractors and project collaborators.
- Acquiring new business and driving competitive conversions while expanding the breadth of Siemens solutions within existing accounts.
- Partnering with Siemens colleagues to advance opportunities involving switchboards, busway, medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchgear, panelboards, motor control centers, circuit breakers, safety switches, and related power distribution products.
Requirements
- Must live in or be available for relocation to the sales territory.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience; HS diploma or GED equivalency is the minimum education requirement when experience is substituted.
- Power distribution sales, engineering, or project management experience related to electrical manufacturing, electrical distribution, contractor sales, or construction sales. 5+ years preferred.
- Experience managing customer accounts and developing or supporting project-based sales opportunities with electrical contractors, consulting engineers, construction-channel customers, distributors, or similar clients.
- Working knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power distribution products such as switchboards, busway, switchgear, panelboards, motor control centers, circuit breakers, safety switches, or related equipment.
- Ability to build customer relationships, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and partner across internal teams to support customer outcomes.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing.
- Experience using sales tools or CRM platforms to manage pipeline, forecast opportunities, and document account activity.
- Ability to travel up to 10% based on customer, territory, and business needs.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
- Formal education in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working directly with consulting engineers, electrical contractors, contractor project managers, estimators, purchasing teams, owners, developers, or senior contractor leadership.
- Ability to read an electrical single-line diagram
- Experience influencing project specifications and selling low-voltage or medium-voltage power distribution equipment across construction project cycles.
- Experience developing or supporting strategic account plans, leading or contributing to project pursuit activity, and working with internal groups to move complex opportunities forward.
- Demonstrated success developing or supporting new business, converting competitive specifications or accounts, and growing market share through supporting contractor and channel engagement.
