About the Role
Hope, our AI companion, and the Notebook are central to patient use of Manta Cares. We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to enhance their capabilities, making them smarter, faster, and more useful. This is a senior individual contributor role on a small team where engineers own platform and product features, taking them from concept to production. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and clinical teams, reporting to the Head of Product Development.
Responsibilities
- Ship features end to end, owning UI, APIs, data model, tests, and release, then tracking usage to inform future development.
- Connect Hope AI and the Notebook to enable Hope to assist patients in managing their cancer journey.
- Enhance Hope AI quality by building new LLM features, refining its communication style, rolling out model upgrades, and implementing evaluations to prevent regressions.
- Transition from a chatbot to an agentic partner/guide by building a persistent shared conversation state.
- Modernize Postgres migrations and database tooling to support rapid data model evolution.
- Contribute to Hope's core AI agent, code reviews, engineering standards, and agentic development tools and patterns.
- Strengthen shared systems, including GitOps infrastructure, database migration systems, authentication, jobs, and pipelines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product engineering experience, with a track record of shipping end-to-end user-facing features.
- Proficiency in full-stack TypeScript, from browser to API, including hands-on experience with React and NodeJS API servers.
- Experience with LLM features in production products (e.g., chatbots, agents, streaming features), including understanding production pitfalls.
- Ability to self-direct and build significant full-stack projects, transforming ambiguous requirements into shipped products with minimal specifications and close collaboration.
- Strong understanding of data models and systems architecture, including relational schema design and migrations (Postgres preferred).
- Experience designing and deploying cloud applications (AWS preferred).
