About the Role

We are seeking a Director to lead the Development & Automation (DNA) team, which comprises developers, data, product, and AI specialists. This role involves establishing structure, consistency, and results for the team, allowing the CTO to focus on strategic initiatives. The Director will be responsible for setting up foundational processes, guidelines, and KPIs, and growing the team as needed. While comfortable unblocking technical challenges, the primary focus is on leading through others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the existing team, understanding individual strengths, setting clear ownership, and managing team members effectively.
  • Establish and implement SOPs and guidelines for team operations, including intake, prioritization, delivery, documentation, and handoffs.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure impact, such as time to deploy, delivery adherence, time saved, adoption, and ROI.
  • Manage the team's weekly delivery cadence, ensuring all initiatives have clear ownership, priority, and next steps.
  • Own the roadmap across AI services, internal data/reporting, and client-facing software product streams.
  • Oversee client AI engagements from assessment to deployment and ongoing management.
  • Manage product releases, including pressure-testing estimates and surfacing risks.
  • Support internal data and reporting initiatives, including the data warehouse and leadership scorecard.
  • Serve as the escalation point for client issues, including security, compliance, and data privacy.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for automation and AI solutions.
  • Grow the team by identifying gaps, defining roles, and managing hiring and onboarding.
  • Manage tooling, vendor decisions, budget input, and capacity planning for the function.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in automation, development, data, or technical operations.
  • 3+ years leading a technical team with direct reports, including coaching and accountability.
  • Experience establishing SOPs, operating rhythms, and KPIs for a team.
  • Experience leading individuals more technical than oneself.
  • Proven track record of shipping AI, automation, or software with measurable impact.
  • Strong technical grounding in the Microsoft stack (M365/Azure, Power Platform, Power BI), APIs, and integrations.
  • Comfortable with client-facing work, including discussions on data, security, and compliance.
  • Ability to translate business needs into delivered solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a lean, fast-moving environment.
  • MSP, SaaS, or multi-client service experience is a plus.
  • Background in software product delivery or data/BI leadership is a plus.
