About the Role
A NYC-based luxury real estate company seeks an experienced Handyperson to support the Building Manager/Superintendent with the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operation of building systems and equipment across its luxury rental portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and complete all requests for work, assign priorities, delegate to appropriate contractor, and follow-up on completion.
- Repair HVAC, boiler, heating, refrigeration, water, and energy systems.
- Repair plumbing such as sinks, bathtubs, and toilets.
- Repair registers and radiators.
- Maintain and/or replace door hardware, compactor, and trash chutes.
- Perform maintenance painting in equipment rooms and other building facilities.
- Assist in the replacement of filters in HVAC equipment.
- Perform electrical work.
- Perform carpentry work.
- Perform general cleaning in mechanical spaces and perimeter induction units.
- Inspect fire safety systems.
- Maintain and repair sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps including basins, water closets, urinals, and piping.
- Maintain and repair all kitchen equipment excluding tenant-owned equipment.
- Be available 24/7 when the Building Manager is not available.
Requirements
- At least 2-4 years of experience as a handyperson in a residential building.
- Possess any permits or licenses required by law or code (e.g., refrigeration license, etc.).
- Experience in the operation, maintenance, and basic repair of electrical systems, HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, gas lines, and water systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with tenants, clients, and vendors.
