About the Role
Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital (TVRH) provides 24-hour emergency care and specialty services. We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Assistant to join our overnight Emergency and ICU team, focusing on critically ill patients and skill development.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency and hospitalized patients.
- Triage incoming emergency patients and assist with assessing patient stability.
- Monitor vital signs and recognize changes in patient condition.
- Perform diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed by the veterinary team.
- Place IV catheters and administer fluids and medications as appropriate for training and credentials.
- Assist with anesthesia, patient monitoring, and recovery.
- Collect samples and perform in-house laboratory testing.
- Perform wound care, bandage changes, catheter maintenance, and other nursing treatments.
- Assist with CPR and emergency stabilization when needed.
- Participate in patient rounds and communicate updates to the medical team.
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow appropriate infection control and isolation protocols.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of veterinary experience; emergency veterinary experience is required.
- Experience working with hospitalized patients, urgent cases, or critical care patients.
- Strong communication, organization, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current RVT registration in North Carolina, or eligibility for registration, is preferred but not required.
- Both licensed RVTs and experienced Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to apply.
- Compensation will be based on relevant experience, technical skills, and licensing.
