About the Role
Erie and Niagara is seeking a full-time Java Developer for its IT Department. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of software applications and components that support the company's business needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop new software applications
- Develop an understanding of the business
- Assist in executing reoccurring tasks
- Monitor phone and e-mail based help desk
- Create technical specifications and test plans
- Create new and extend existing operational documentation
- Consult colleagues concerning maintenance and performance of software systems
- Assist in companywide system upgrades as needed
- Utilize established development tools, guidelines, and conventions including IntelliJ, Java, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, SQL Server, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Investigate and develop skills in new technologies
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or minimum five years’ experience
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to set and meet deadlines as necessary
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience in Object Oriented analysis, design, and programming
- Proficient in IntelliJ, Java, Visual Studio, Microsoft .NET Framework, ASP.NET, HTML, XML, Web Services, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proven experience with Relational Databases (Microsoft SQL Server)
- Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies
