- Conduct first-piece inspections and make necessary adjustments before production.
- Maintain consistent production output while meeting quality and dimensional requirements.
- Read, understand, and make necessary modifications to CNC G-code and M-code programs.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, tool paths, offsets, and machining parameters to optimize performance.
- Troubleshoot machining problems, dimensional inconsistencies, tool wear, and machine alarms.
- Identify root causes of machining issues and implement corrective actions.
- Recognize when a problem requires maintenance or engineering support and communicate it effectively.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
- Perform dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Verify parts meet specifications throughout the production process.
- Identify and correct quality issues before they result in scrap or production delays.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Prioritize assigned production jobs and manage machine utilization.
- Make sound technical decisions to maintain production efficiency.
- Communicate production status, machine issues, and completed work to the next shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Follow established manufacturing procedures and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, preferably including independent setup responsibilities.
- Proven ability to independently set up and operate CNC milling equipment.
- Working knowledge of CNC G-code and M-code, including the ability to make program edits.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Experience selecting and changing cutting tools, adjusting offsets, and optimizing machining parameters.
- Proficiency using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions without constant supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Willingness and ability to work second shift.
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC machining centers.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC controls.
- Experience machining engineering polymers such as PEEK, ULTEM, acetal, or other precision materials.
- Experience manufacturing close-tolerance components for medical devices, life-science instrumentation, or industrial applications.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
- Experience improving machining processes, reducing cycle times, and minimizing scrap.
- Must be capable of receiving a production assignment, independently setting up the CNC equipment, verifying the machining process, producing conforming components, and resolving routine machining problems without requiring direct oversight.
