About the Role
The Mobile Pantry Part-Time Commodities Associate ensures smooth operations at mobile distribution sites and the warehouse, managing food packing, member issues, and distribution protocols. This role supports NYCP's mission to reduce hunger and promote dignity.
Responsibilities
- Train and support volunteers in assembling pantry packages according to guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service during mobile pantry operations.
- Manage client flow at mobile sites and resolve member issues.
- Ensure distribution protocols are followed by staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with Mobile Pantry staff, Drivers, and Commodities Associates for food package setup and packing.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies, ensuring proper storage and stock rotation.
- Set up packing areas and distribution spaces before program operations.
- Load and unload vans/trucks, accurately counting commodities.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating a hand truck/pallet jack.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to helping communities in need and NYCP's mission.
- Certification in Food Safety Handling by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
- Comfortable working with diverse populations.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
