About the Role
General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking motivated Mechanical Designers to produce design deliverables from sketches, layouts, and concepts for manufacture, assembly, and test. The role offers opportunities for skill development through on-the-job experience and continued education.
Responsibilities
- Produce design deliverables from design sketches, layouts and/or concepts to support manufacture, assembly and test.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6+ years of design experience
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprint drawings
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting (portfolio) with Computer Aided Design (CAD) is required (NX preferred)
- Experience with CATIA and/or NX
- Experience in Design for Six Sigma, Lean Design/Manufacturing
Skills
- Willingness to work in a collaborative and team environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft products
- Ability to perform design related math functions
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions and drawings (blueprints)
- Firm understanding of Design Standards, Manufacturing Processes and Military Specifications including GD&T
