About the Role
Original X Productions is seeking a Controller to manage and optimize the financial aspects of the business, driving growth and profitability in a fast-growing location-based experience company.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper and timely accounting of the business and provide reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models, annual forecasts, and operating budgets.
- Monitor performance, identify variances, and provide recommendations to achieve financial targets.
- Oversee day-to-day financial activities, including AP, AR, payroll, invoicing, royalties, and taxes.
- Implement robust financial controls and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Support cross-functional teams to identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate audits and present financial reports to key stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and manage operational budgets, forecasting, and performance on revenue-generating opportunities.
- Oversee and manage capital expenditure budgets for new location-based experiences.
- Coordinate with production and creative teams to organize vendors, payment timelines, and budget reconciliations.
- Evaluate existing processes and systems, implement automation, and leverage resources to drive operational excellence.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Support financial aspects of business operations, refining processes and optimizing business functions.
- Work closely with the operations team to align, establish, and achieve goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior finance role in a live entertainment, hospitality, or tourism focused business.
- Location-based entertainment industry experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting, reporting, and financial modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Experience with audits preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to drive results and coach teams.
- Ability to simply convey complex financial information to various stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, and following through.
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
